A Day in the Life:
As a Trainee Composite Laminating Technician, you will be producing high-precision carbon fibre components for cutting-edge industries like Formula One and Aerospace. You’ll be part of a large, skilled team working at a quick pace to deliver quality parts. Using engineering drawings, you’ll kit, layup, bag, and de-bag components. Picture yourself watching an F1 race, filled with pride as you see the cars race by, knowing that you contributed to the team’s success. As a multi-skilled, adaptable laminator at CODEM, you can make that vision a reality.
On a usual day, a Trainee Composite Laminator will spend time:
- Laminating components & moulds as specified by customer drawings and operating procedures – this could be anything from an Automotive part to a component taking off to space!
- Our industry is a fast-paced, innovative environment where you will laminate products promptly to meet excellent quality standards and strict F1 deadlines that we are renowned for.
- Engineering drawings are technical; therefore, we will teach you all you need to know to have an excellent understanding of complex drawings.
- Pattern sealing and preparation for moulding.
- Mould tool manufacture and preparation for production.
- Tool maintenance.
- Training on, close tolerance trimming, fitting and bonding & surface finishing.
- Problem solving is key. You’ll be thinking on your feet and reacting accordingly.
*The role includes a block release study period to gain both practical and theoretical knowledge.
