Operations Director

Sharon Hewison is the Operations Director at CODEM. With a keen eye for scalable frameworks that foster sustainable growth, she has spearheaded the implementation of systems and processes to position the company for continued expansion. Sharon has further strengthened CODEM’S management structure by assembling a team of leaders whose diverse capabilities align with the company’s strategic vision.

Before joining CODEM in 2019, Sharon had a successful career in the composites industry. She started at Lola Composites, where she held various roles including New Business Manager, Project Manager, Engineering Group Manager, and finally Group Engineering Manager for both Lola Composites and Lola Cars Ltd. After leaving Lola, Sharon continued working with composites at Marshall’s Aerospace, first as Project Manager. She quickly progressed to Head of Engineering Capability and Resources, where she set up strategic partnerships with external design houses to expand capabilities. Sharon also created a capability development programme for engineers across multiple disciplines, to increase their value to Marshall’s.

Business Manager

Rochelle began her career in the composites industry at Composites Evolution. Demonstrating exceptional talent and dedication, she rapidly advanced through the ranks. Starting as a Sales Assistant, she quickly proved her prowess and was promoted to Sales Manager. Her strategic vision and leadership skills eventually earned her the position of Sales and Marketing Director.

At Composites Evolution, Rochelle played a pivotal role in driving sales growth and enhancing the company’s market presence. Her innovative approaches and deep understanding of the industry positioned Composites Evolution as a leader in the field.

Eager to embrace new challenges, Rochelle joined CODEM with a mission to propel the company into the 21st century. Tasked with rebranding marketing efforts and securing new business, she brought her expertise and forward-thinking strategies to CODEM. Under her guidance, CODEM has revitalised its brand and expanded its market reach, ensuring its competitive edge in a dynamic industry.

Outside of her professional life, Rochelle enjoys playing netball, traveling, and spending quality time with her family

Production Manager

Bob has been a fixture in the composites industry since 2000, embarking on a career journey reflecting his passion for innovation and technical excellence. His introduction to the field began humbly as a Trainee Laminator under the mentorship of Kevin, an experience that ignited his fascination with composite materials.

Over the span of 12 years, Bob distinguished himself as a skilled laminating supervisor, overseeing critical production processes with precision and dedication. His role evolved taking the role of Production Manager, where he excels in optimising manufacturing efficiencies and ensuring stringent quality control standards.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Bob is a fervent supporter of the Peterborough Phantoms, holding a season ticket for six consecutive years. His competitive spirit extends beyond spectating, having once played a memorable football match at the prestigious Old Trafford stadium.

An amusing twist in Bob’s career journey underscores his determination and resilience—he was initially turned down for the job by Kevin in 2000, a decision that almost became Kevin’s greatest mistake, now a source of good-natured humour in Bob’s successful career.

Operations & Quality Lead

Gemma is the Operations and Quality Lead at CODEM. With a diverse background in composites and manufacturing, Gemma has played a crucial role in advancing CODEM’s production capabilities and optimising operational efficiency.

Before joining CODEM, Gemma began her career at Icon Aerospace Technology. Initially intending to work only for a summer, she quickly developed a passion for assembly and bespoke manufacturing using polymers. Starting from the ground up, Gemma gained comprehensive experience in producing composite inserts and setting up new production areas, which led to a promotion to production manager.

Seeking new challenges, Gemma transitioned to Composites Evolution, where she focused on the production of Carbon Fibre prepreg. She supported the transition of products from R&D to production and led a small team, becoming proficient in all production aspects.
Intrigued by the mixing process, Gemma then moved to Tuskbond Adhesives as a site manager. There, she was introduced to the safe storage and use of chemicals and gases, leading a continuous improvement team that sourced a new filling connection, significantly boosting output and enabling a 4-day workweek.

Gemma returned to Composites Evolution, where she implemented a quality inspection standard that reduced non-conforming production by 80%, established planning processes to increase efficiency and reduce waste, and worked closely with R&D to resolve inline production issues.
Outside of work, Gemma enjoys spending time at coffee shops, travelling, and exploring new hobbies. Gemma is an avid fan of country music, a dedicated supporter of Sheffield Wednesday, and has a quirky love for alpacas.

Vice President

Bumble Hewison is Vice President at CODEM. Bumble, a working cocker spaniel, is extremely friendly and greets all staff members equally and without prejudice. Her enthusiastic wagging tail and wiggly body boost staff morale as they pet and adore her. She also helps build customer relationships, with some customers purposefully visiting to see her when she’s on site. In her spare time, Bumble enjoys gundog training and is working towards earning certificates from The Gundog Club. She also competes in agility and is training for hoopers. At the Ramsey Dog Club, Bumble serves as an ambassador for training – not only demonstrating exercises with Sharon but also helping people gain confidence by letting them practice training activities with her. In her spare time, she enjoys holidays in the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales, always topping off the trip with a visit to the pub for a pint.
